Matthew William ~ 9 Months

Weight/length: We had Matt's 9 month appointment on Tuesday and he's almost 24 pounds and 31 inches long - 95 percentile for weight and off the charts for height!
Sleep: We had some sleep setbacks this last month - teething and a cold. So let's just say sleep has not been good. Naps have changed as well in the last month. Matt's morning nap is a little later and his afternoon nap is shorter. We're planning on doing some sleep training when we get back from visiting family in Atlanta.
Health: Matt and I got a cold mid January and that was no fun :( Neither of us got fevers so that was good. Just lots of congestion and coughing.
Clothes: About the same as last month 18-24 top and bottom.
Baby Gear/Accessories: Now that Matt's eating solids there's a whole new set of accessories - bibs, storage containers, etc... I really like the Baby Bjorn bib, it's really easy to wash. Matt loves sitting on his play mat and taking his toys out of his toy basket - it's really cute to watch him choose the toys he wants to play with. He loves playing with a borrowed toy, the wooden play cube activity center - it's a must have for a 8-9 month old - he loves it!
Development: Matt's so close to crawling! He's rocking back and forth on all fours and pulling himself up from his belly to a sitting position. He's rolling all over and scooting backwards in order to get around. I can't wait until he starts crawling because he's going to love exploring...I'm saying this now haha!

Matt's clapping now, which is so cute! I love saying, "clap, clap, clap" and watching him smile and put his hands together.

His top tooth came through, so he now has 3 teeth and the 4th top tooth is about to come through. Teething hurts - poor guy :( He's also going through "separation anxiety" so he's been a little fussy and especially when I leave the room. I've heard the separation thing can last a few weeks or a few months, I'm hoping it's only a few weeks!
Eating: We introduced Matt to chicken and he's liking it! His pincher fingers have improved in the last month and now he's picking up little pieces of food. It's so cute to watch him focus on picking up pieces of food and then putting them in his mouth. He's obsessed with Puffs and they're great for him to learn how to feed himself. He's still eating purees, drinking breastmilk, getting better with formula, and loving trying new little pieces of soft foods. Some of his favorites are baby yogurt, cheese, avocado, banana, and baby mum-mums.
Crying: He only cries when he's tired or not feeling well - there was a lot more crying and whining when he was sick.
Adventures: January was a fun month celebrating Daddy's birthday and relaxing in San Rafael. We've stayed local and Matt loves going to the park and the swing. Matt is also enjoying his swim class once a week and a weekly music class - Music Together.

Postpartum/Mommy feeling: Matt is such a little person now. He knows what he likes and dislikes, feeds himself, pulls the toys out of the basket that he wants, it's just incredible how much he has changed in 9 months. The same amount of time he was in my belly {38 weeks} he's been out - CRAZY!
This last month I have felt good, besides getting sick and lack of sleep, I finally feel like I am back to my normal strength and endurance with working out. It only took about 9 months haha. I love spending time with Matt and he's still my cuddly little boy, I really hope that doesn't change once he starts crawling. I've learned that being a Mom is all about the little things. There are some really hard and exhausting days where he really tests my patience, but then there are those moments... like when he puts his head on my shoulder when we walk in the door to a new place, or when he reaches up for me when he's sitting on the floor, or when he smiles at me while he tries to clap. It's all going so fast and sometimes I want to be able to just push "pause"...but, that's what pictures and videos are for, right? I can't get enough.

Happy Almost Valentine's Day!
